Get a Taste of Scotland with Chef Mark McEwan
Chef Mark McEwan teamed up with Seafood from Scotland for a virtual cooking lesson featuring a delicious seafood extravaganza. Scotland’s 18,000 km of coastline lends some of the best seafood selection in the world. From Loch Etive steelhead trout to the Northern Sea haddock, Scottish seafood is something to savour.
The virtual cooking lesson started with a Arbikie “Tattie Bogle” Scottish Potato Vodka Seafood Caesar. Made with Toronto-based Walkers Caesar mix and Tattie Bogle vodka from Arbikie Highland Estate in Scotland, this Caesar is the perfect marriage between Scottish and Canadian cultures.
McEwan then guided us through delicious seafood delicacies, straight from Scotland. Including:
Horseradish-Crusted Scottish Loch Etive Steelhead Trout with an Orange & Kale Salad.
Grilled Noland Seafood North Sea Haddock Sandwich with Baja-Mayo & Fried Hen Egg on a Potato Bun. Served with a side of McEwan Potato Chips
Macduff Shellfish Scottish Brown Crab Claw with Vermouth Butter Dipping Sauce & Grilled French Baguette
All the seafood was imported from Scotland, and were all caught using sustainable methods. The seafood was paired with items from McEwan grocers and other traditional artisan Scottish products like Walker’s shortbread cookies, Speyside Smokehouse salmon jerky, Orkney Island Cheddar, and more.
I had no idea that Scotland had so much regional seafood. Chef Mark McEwan’s demo was insightful and broadened by knowledge on all the amazing seafood that Scotland has to offer. I know where I’m travelling to next.
