The Kamogawa Food Detectives: Brown Sugar & Peach Sorbet

What a delightful book! The Kamogawa Food Detectives tells the story of a father-daughter duo who help their customers recreate their favourite or most significant meals. Written by Hisashi Kashiwai, the novel shows the connection between food and nostalgia. Who doesn’t have a fond childhood moment that is connected to their favourite meal or a moment around the table with their loved ones.

It is mentioned in the novel that the traditional Japanese dessert is the Mizugahi course. Meaning “water course” it is the archaic Japanese term for fruit. It usually also features a side of brown sugar sorbet and an assortment of teas.

So why not combine this course and make a brown sugar and peach sorbet. It is way easier to make than it looks, and it tastes delicious!
