Whenever I’m downtown I try to make time to stop by vegan bakery and cafe, Almond Butterfly. While I’m not vegan, I am lactose intolerant and allergic to eggs, so finding desserts that I can actually eat is difficult.

My must-have item are their cupcakes. Usually vegan cupcakes tend to be too dense, dry or, both. This is definitely not the case at Almond Butterfly. They are light, packed with flavour, and moist.

The cupcakes are available in a variety of flavours including chocolate and vanilla, chocolate chip cookie dough, mint chocolate, strawberry milkshake, and more.

My absolute favourite is their signature Almond Butterfly: a vanilla cake base, topped with pink almond frosting, and almond sliver garnish. It’s not too sweet, but it definitely hits the spot when you’re looking for a treat.

Their menu also includes sandwiches, coffee and other drinks, as well as cookies, brownies, and muffins. There are gluten options available.
